چکیده

We report the first electron paramagnetic resonance studies of single crystals and powders of Pr0.6Ca0.4MnO3 in the 300-4.2 K range, covering the charge ordering transition at ∼ 240 K and antiferromagnetic transition (TN ) at ∼ 170 K. The asymmetry parameter for the Dysonian single crystal spectra shows anomalous increase at Tco. Below Tco the g-value increases continuously, suggesting a gradual strengthening of orbital ordering. The linewidth undergoes a sudden increase at Tco and continues to increase down to TN . The intensity increases as the temperature is decreased till Tco due to the renormalization of magnetic susceptibility arising from the build up of ferromagnetic correlations. The value of the exchange constant, J , is estimated to

We report electron paramagnetic resonance measurements on single crystalline and powder samples of Nd0.5Ca0.5MnO3 across the charge-ordering transition at Tco = 240K down to the antiferromagnetic ordering transition at TN = 140K. The changes in the linewidth, g-factor and intensity as functions of temperature are studied to understand the nature of spin-dynamics in the system. We explain the ob...

Demystifying EPR: A Rookie Guide to the Application of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy on Biomolecules

Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, also known as Electron Spin Resonance(ESR) especially among physicists, is a strong and versatile spectroscopic method forinvestigation of paramagnetic systems, i.e. systems like free radicals and most transition metalions, which have unpaired electrons. The sensitivity and selectivity of EPR are notable andintriguing as compared to other spec...

An Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Study of Phase Segregation in Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3

We present results of an electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) study of Nd1−xSrxMnO3 with x = 0.5 across the paramagnetic to ferromagnetic, insulator to metal transition at 260 K (Tc) and the antiferromagnetic, charge ordering transition (TN = Tco) at 150 K. The results are compared with those on Nd0.45Sr0.55MnO3 which undergoes a transition to a homogeneous A-type antiferromagnetic phase at TN...

Magnetic and electronic properties of charge ordered Nd0.8Na0.2MnO3

Nd0.8Na0.2MnO3 polycrystalline ceramic is prepared by sol–gel method and its magnetic properties, electron spin resonance spectra and electronic transport properties have been investigated experimentally. Above 155K, the compound is a paramagnetic insulator. As the compound is cooled from room temperature, a charge-ordered state first develops below 155K. Above 110K, the resistivity data follow...
